Hi Anomalies!
Happy New Month! I hope this month brings you so much love and joy. I hope you achieve all your goals successfully. May this month bring you new hopes and inspiration as well. Since September is the 9th month of the year I wanted to do a post with the number 9 in it. So here you have it! These are 9 things I wish I had known earlier on:

1. Try your best to listen well and when you’re listening LISTEN.
2. There are friendships known as convenient friendships. For example, being friends with certain people because you see them everyday. This is not a genuine form of friendship. (You should check out our post on friendship if you haven't read it.)

3. Don’t worry about what other people think – I used to worry about what others thought of me a lot. I’ve come to realize that if you spend your time seeking approval from others then you won’t have time to do what you want to do and to achieve your goals.
4. It’s okay to be different – It’s okay to be an anomaly. 
5. Don’t burn your bridges – We all don’t know the future and so we don’t know when a former classmate, acquaintance, club member may come in handy. Try to part ways on good terms as much as possible. Be respectful and kind to all.
6. Getting even doesn’t help you get ahead – Sometimes forgiveness is not just for the other person but for you as well.
7. Learn how and when to say NO – Try your best to avoid becoming a yes man/woman and becoming a people pleaser. Don’t be afraid to say no to certain things and don’t let anyone convince you that you’re selfish for saying no.
8. Confidence is an important quality one should have and don’t fret if you don’t have it because it be learned through deliberate practice.
9. Try new things when you have the opportunity to. Try not to be too comfortable with your current situation. Strive for more and strive to be a better version of yourself everyday.

One major thing I learnt last year is that to forgive someone who has really messed up or hurt you is the hardest thing ever. Telling yourself that you forgive the person or the people and you're going to let things go is easier said than done. Most times it's easier to hold on to anger and resentment and thoughts of revenge but it's not healthy. Being let down is hard, I get, but you holding on to anger is actually hurting you rather than the other person. Anger has a way of consuming and controlling you and it rids you of positive things at that point. It will do more harm to you than it will to the the other person. One thing that helps is remembering forgiveness isn't something you do for the other person, it's something you do for you. Love yourself enough to forgive the other person because at the end of the day it's for your own good.

Forgiveness is you coming to terms with what has happened and letting it go. It doesn't excuse other people's actions or behaviors. We have to understand that everyone makes mistakes - everyone, including you and I. Sadly some mistakes have bigger consequences than others but mistakes are mistakes. All human beings are flawed, keep this in mind. Think about it this way, if you messed up you will obviously want those you hurt to forgive you. Forgiveness is you making peace with everything that has happened and letting go of past experiences or situations. You release yourself from a painful burden when you forgive. Truth is, everything that has happened had to happen and you can grow from it. There was probably something you needed to know or learn.

Happy New Year once again. I hope the year is off to a great start for everyone, it's already going so fast. We're extremely grateful for 2015. For life, family and friends, amazing opportunities, good health and peace. To be able to see the new year is a blessing and we hope that this year will be better than last year for all of us and we'll have a reason to smile through out.

Lesson 1

Forgiveness is For You - Don't let anyone bring you down so low as to hate them. Holding on to bitterness and anger will only hinder your happiness. The person who benefits the most from forgiveness is the one who does the forgiving. Make peace with your past so it won't disturb your present or future.

Lesson 2
An Attitude of Gratitude is Important - Be grateful for everything you have, the big things, the small things and the things in between. Don't get too caught up with everything happening around you that you forget to be thankful or appreciative & stop complaining. You have to learn to count your blessings and not your problems.

Lesson 3
We Get Treated The Way We Teach Others to Treat Us - Respect and love yourself and others will do the same. If you don't believe in yourself chances are nobody will. You will act on that belief and people will treat you based on that belief. You either teach people to respect you or to not respect you.

Lesson 4
There's A Time For Everything - There is a time for every matter in life, don't rush things and be patient.

Lesson 5
Live your own life - Do not copy everything other people are doing, they are living theirs, so why don't you live yours as well. Don't compare your life to others and don't judge other people because you have no idea what their journey is about. Do your own thing.

Lesson 6
Stop thinking too much - Don't overthink everything. It's okay to not know the answers to something's but don't worry the answers will come to you when you least expect it.

Lesson 7
Stop Complaining - You don't own all the problems in the world and neither do you have the worst problem in the world. Life is difficult for everyone but there are people who have it worse. There are people who are struggling to eat and live. The fact that you have access to the basic necessities of life you should be happy. I know it's not easy to not complain, I literally complain everyday but I've learnt that I shouldn't because someone somewhere will kill to have the things I have.

Lesson 8
Don't wait till you're absolutely perfect to start something you have a major interest in e.g. This blog. If you keep waiting till you're perfect before you start you'll always find a reason not to start, I don't think you can be perfect from the start. It's a gradual process and you learn more as time goes on.  Don't be discouraged if things don't start out the way you planned.
