The Importance of Relationships

09:00:00

We all have relationships in our lives, we have relationships with our parents, our friends, our family members, etc. We also get to create new relationships every once in a while.

Most of us don't understand the importance of relationships in our lives. But hopefully this post will help someone see the importance of relationships.

Take a minute to think about your life, think about all the things you've been through, I can boldly say that most of the things you've been through and survived have been because of the people in your life. We all have people in our lives for a reason. Nobody can survive this earth alone, we all need somebody, if not you will not survive. Even God knows this which is why he made Eve to keep Adam company. Nobody gets married to themselves, you need a partner. In business you need clients, your business will not prosper if you have no clients. We need people.

“No road is long with good company.”— Turkish Proverb

We all need a support system i.e a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support. Your support system is there to help you in every circumstance and this is essential to survive, if not, an individual could breakdown emotionally or physically, as the case may be.

It is very important that we are nice to people we meet. Now don't be too nice and let your guard down because there are many crazy people in our world today(I watch A lot of Law and order SVU lol) but it is important you do not look down on people because they "seem" to be below you. Our society today has been divided into social classes based on wealth, and due to this division, the children of the "elite" tend not to mix with the "poor". I put those in quote because honestly nothing is certain in this life. A lot of people tend to look down on people who have less than what they have or appear to, and this causes bit of bad blood. No body knows the future, a person could loose all his money in one day! (e.g. Two broke girls, for those who watch) and someone could become rich in one day as well. As a famous saying goes "Levels change".

It is very important that you are nice to the people you come across so that in your time of need you will be helped. If you are mean to everyone you meet, or have an attitude, when you need help, no body will be willing to help you, trust me. and It is a horrible thing for no one to want to help you voluntarily. However when you have a reputation for being hospitable and caring everyone would rush to help you, trust me, i've seen it happen to people close to me.

I'll give an example of someone I know. But i'll not mention his name. Let's call him Mr A. Now Mr A met Mr B one day and Mr B didn't really look like he was high up, but Mr A kept a good relationship with Mr B. They became very good friends and Mr A was there when Mr B needed him. Now Mr B became the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015. Nobody knew this was going to happen, but it did. A conference for young entrepreneurs planned by Mr A's company was to be held on the 7th of May 2016 and Mr A was looking for a keynote speaker, He then got in touch with the vice president and asked if he could come and speak at his event, you could guess his reply, YES! Now it was easy for the vice president to say yes because he knew what type of man Mr A was. Mr A had proven himself a respectable man of integrity and a humble man. And this caused the vice president to come for the event.

I'm not saying be nice to people to get things in return, oh no! I'm saying make a good name for yourself with people so you don't regret it later.

“Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust and hostility to evaporate.”-Albert Schweitzer

Here's something you can try, to help you. Try something called the 5 days of mercy i.e when you do nice things that you wouldn't do on a normal day to people who you wouldn't even think about. For example: Pay for the car behind you at the toll gate, pay the bus fare of three people, send a message to someone you haven't spoken to in a while, send airtime to someone you wouldn't think about. try this 5 days of mercy three times a year for starters, trust me you'll be greatly rewarded. Your reward may not come immediately, it may come much much later, years even, but, don't worry, you will always reap what you sow, no matter how long it takes.

#Importance 1: You need people to survive this world.
#Importance 2: You need relationships to help in hard times.

Hope this helped.
